Dr Vincent Quoc-Huy Trinh’s laboratory receives major funding

Published on December 16, 2024

The John R. Evans Leaders Fund, the Canada Foundation for Innovation and the research support program of Quebec’s ministère de l’Économie, de l’Innovation et de l’Énergie have awarded Dr. Vincent Quoc-Huy Trinh’s lab significant funding for its promising research project: “The effect of fibroblasts on the malignant transformation of dysplastic stem cells in pancreatic tumors”, for the period 2024-2026.

The award of $432,143 in funding will enable Dr Trinh’s team to better understand the interactions between precancerous cells and their environment, using innovative tools to control the disease at an early stage when survival is as high as 95-100%. This funding will enable the deployment of cyclic multiplex imaging methods that can visualize up to 60 proteins simultaneously on the tissue.

In addition, this funding will enable further development of artificial intelligence approaches such as Vim4Path and 2DMambaMIL, which his group and international collaborators have created specifically to guide imaging methods to areas enriched in interactions critical to tumor progression. These technologies will be integrated into IRIC’s histology core facility.

The funds will also contribute to the training of the next generation of Investigators, and to the development of strategic collaborations with academic and industrial partners, strengthening local leadership in biomedical research and technological innovation.

This funding underlines the excellence of Vincent Trinh’s laboratory and the very high quality of his research activities.

Congratulations to Dr. Vincent Trinh and his colleagues on this wonderful recognition!
