The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) recently awarded the Project grants for the Spring 2023 competition. This program aims to support original ideas with the potential to advance basic and applied knowledge in health.
Across the country, 381 research projects, representing a total investment of $325 million, were funded. Four IRIC projects have received these prestigious grants.
Congratulations to our teams!
- Michel Bouvier, director of the Molecular Pharmacology Research Unit, receives an $879,750 grant over five years for the project entitled “Molecular mechanisms and structural determinants of pharmacological chaperone action; therapeutic potential for the treatment of early onset severe obesity”.
- Trang Hoang, Director of the Hematopoiesis and Leukemia Research Unit, together with researchers Claude Perreault and Pierre Thibault, obtains financial support of $856,800 over five years, with the project “Uncovering tumor specific antigens and vulnerabilities in ETP-acute lymphoblastic leukemia”.
- Sylvie Mader, Director of the Molecular Targeting in Breast Cancer Treatment Research Unit, in collaboration with researcher Anne Marinier, is granted financial support of $841,500 over five years, with the project “Mechanisms of action of antiestrogens in breast cancer: roles of ubiquitin-like modifications in transcriptional inactivation of Estrogen Receptor alpha”.
- Matthew Smith, director of the Cancer Signalling and Structural Biology Research Unit, is receiving $826,200 over five years for the “Regulation of RAS driven cellular proliferation by SHOC2 and the MRAS GTPase” project.
