SQSV 2022-2025: Encouraging news for the industry!

IRIC is pleased with the announcement of the Quebec Minister of Economy and Innovation, Mr. Pierre Fitzgibbon, regarding the unveiling of the Quebec Life Sciences Strategy 2022-2025 during the renowned event Effervescence. Under the theme “Using our ingenuity to advance health”, the strategy, updated in the context of COVID-19, proposes concrete and innovative actions to promote this key industry of the Quebec economy and encourage its growth.
Today, significant financial support of $211 millions has been announced. In addition, five areas of intervention are being put forward. These include the creation of synergies to address major health challenges, as well as the development of human capital and the attraction of talent.
IRIC is pleased to note a marked recognition towards research and innovation.
Quebec’s life sciences industry at a glance
Nearly 715 companies, directly employing some 36,930 people and supporting almost as many jobs in public research centres and various related service organizations.
Nearly 30,000 students enrolled in college and university programs that produce 7,600 graduates per year.
Deliveries worth a total of $5.7 billion in 2020. This represents 3.7% of total manufacturing shipments.
