IRIC thanks Mr. Sauvé for his testamentary donation

Published on June 10, 2020

IRIC is very grateful to announce the philanthropic support of donor Pierre Sauvé, Engr., a 1966 graduate of Polytechnique Montréal. Extensively involved with the Université de Montréal over the past few years, particularly with l’Association des diplômés, Mr. Sauvé has shown tremendous generosity towards our academic institution on many occasions.

Today, IRIC would like to thank Mr. Sauvé for his testamentary donation to the Institute. This remarkable gesture will make it possible to award scholarships to students who are committed to cancer research and who want to make a difference.

“Certain challenges have had an impact on my philanthropic projects. My wife Denyse Vachon died following a second bout with cancer in 2004 and I received a cancer diagnosis in 2016. That’s why I have planned a testamentary donation to the Institute for Research in Immunology and Cancer (IRIC) of the UdeM. I also chose to capitalize my donation to the Fonds de dotation de l’UdeM, so that year after year, the Pierre Sauvé and Denyse Vachon Scholarships can be awarded to student-investigators working on acquiring new knowledge in order to better understand the mechanisms of cancer and develop personalized therapeutic approaches”.
