Accolade for Pierre Priam at the concours Étudiants-chercheurs étoiles

Published on March 13, 2018

Pierre Priam, Ph.D. candidate in cellular biology at Institute for Research in Immunology and Cancer (IRIC) of the Université de Montréal (UdeM), is the deserving winner of the concours Étudiants-chercheurs étoiles organized by the Fonds de Recherche du Québec.

Awarded the sum of $1,000, Pierre Priam received the honor as a result of his article “SMARCD2 Subunit of SWI/SNF Chromatin-remodeling Complexes Mediates Granulopoiesis through a CEBPe-Dependent Mechanism” published in the prestigious scientific journal Nature Genetics.  The work describes the discovery of a key mechanism in the production of white blood cells specialized in defending the body against infections.

“Our studies led to the discovery of a critical regulator of the innate immune response and provide a better understanding of the molecular defects responsible for a disease of the immune system” explains Pierre Priam.
