Published on August 10, 2016
This past July, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) unveiled the grant winners for research projects spearheaded by scientists from across the country. Eight researchers from IRIC obtained a grant, representing a success rate of 40%.
Among those eight researchers, two obtained a Foundation Grant, a program designed “to contribute to a sustainable foundation of health research leaders by providing long-term support for the pursuit of innovative, high-impact programs of research.” (Source: CIHR’s website)
Six researchers received a Project Grant, a program designed to “capture ideas with the greatest potential to advance health-related fundamental or applied knowledge, health research, health care, health systems, and/or health outcomes. It supports projects with a specific purpose and a defined endpoint.” (Source: CIHR’s website)
“Those grants will be of vital support to fund the research projects at the Institute,” explains Michel Bouvier, Chief Executive Officer of IRIC. “On behalf of the Institute, I want to congratulate my colleagues for obtaining this source of funding, which will not only allow the completion of important projects, but will also open up new research avenues.”
