The selective transport of molecules across membranes is a fundamental cellular process ensured by specialized proteins, such as transporters of the ATP-Binding Cassette (ABC) superfamily. Our team studies ABC transporters involved in antifungal and anticancer drug resistance. We use yeast as an experimental system to study the structural and functional properties of these transporters and the molecular mechanisms controlling their activity and expression. This knowledge is essential for the development of new anticancer and antifungal therapies to overcome clinical drug resistance.
